The Obama campaign proves again that he is the best candidate able to win in the West. The New York Times reports that Obama beat in the Wyoming cacusus by a large margin, adding approximately 7 more delegates to his total. Obama has continually proved his message is appealing to all states, even the tradtionally red ones, which have responded to his message with overwhelming support compared to Hillary. On the national scheme Obama may be the candidate who can pull off more upsets in the red states than many people may have at first thought, weakening Clinton’s argument that she is the better candidate for taking on Senator McCain in the 2008 election. But the biggest problem facing the Democrats is the Florida/Michigan messup that is now coming back to bite the DNC in the butt. The New York Times reports that the latest ideas is a proposed mail-in vote in Michigan, since the costs would be a lot less than that of a re-do, but ultimately I believe the whole problem in the first place is weakening the Democrats as a whole. I realize in Florida that Republicans are responsible for pushing the primary date early, but there is no one to blame forĀ it in Michigan. Hopefully a fair solution will be reached soon, because obviously the delegates in both states are a lot more crucial than anyone in the Democratic party thought they would be.
